Is Michael being disrespectful to professionals who assess dyslexia?

Not at all. If you try these ideas out and they don’t work then go and see a professional in your area. I just want parents to know that most of the time, parents already have the brainpower and motivation to apply the tips in these videos to their own child’s circumstances. I believe we need to take education about dyslexia and share it with parents everywhere.

Michael, what are your qualifications to train others in dyslexia?

12 years of school teaching and 3 years of consulting and creating ‘individualised learning plans’ for children with a wide range of learning issues. Most of what I know I learnt from people who have been helping kids for longer than I’ve been alive. Some of what I’ve learnt has been through trial and error. I’ll let you decide whether or not that qualifies me to make the suggestions on this website.

What if I have already tried everything before, and nothing has worked?

As long as you don’t give up, you will find what you need. Hopefully some of this video will be a big help for you, but if I were in your shoes I would probably go and get some advice from specialists.
